Digital billboards look both ways at border crossing

Two of the newest digital billboards in Canada are reaching travellers crossing to and from the U.S., with advertising airtime being sold to businesses on both sides of the border.
Pattison Outdoor Advertising has built the two ten-by-20-foot LED units – one facing each way – on the Canadian side of the Peace Bridge on Lake Erie, which links Ontario and New York state.

They will each show a rotation of nine spots, for six seconds apiece.

Eight spots will be sold to advertisers, with Pattison and the Buffalo and Fort Erie Bridge Authority sharing revenue, while the ninth will be available to bridge management for community information, emergency alerts, and promotion of ticketing schemes for frequent users.
