Building touch applications? There’s a screen for that...

The increasing ubiquity of touch interfaces has led Philips to roll out an unusually extensive 30-strong line of LCD multitouch displays.

Ranging in size from 32 to 65 inches, and available in table, kiosk, and totem formats as well as in conventional screen housings, they are available exclusively through MMD.

The differing requirements of the variety of locations and applications using touch have also led Philips to offer several touch technologies as well as a choice of formats.

The most cost-effective, says MMD, is optical touch imaging.

However, this supports only two simultaneous touchpoints. Likewise, capacitive touch is also limited to two touchpoints, although it is recommended as the most practical and easy-to-clean for outdoor use.

More sophisticated applications, particularly with multiple users, can be built on infrared touch technology, supporting up to 32 simultaneous touchpoints.
