Rollout has started for a new digital out-of-home game that promises increased revenue for golf clubs by letting players compete for cash prizes while on the green.
JustOne Golf has already been installed at clubs in Nevada and Georgia, with other sites across the U.S. due to go live soon.
Installed at one or more holes, it is based on kiosks (dubbed Teeosks) at the tees. These are fed by video cameras to capture a golfer’s swing and the result of their shot.
Hitting the tee shot to within the length of the flagstick or achieving a hole in one earns the player a prize, paid out by JustOne. Footage of their achievement can also be shared on social media.

The enthusiasm of Chicago’s mayor for digital out-of-home advertising could soon lead to the installation of hundreds of screens at the city’s two main airports.
A proposed agreement with Clear Channel Airports will cover O’Hare and Midway, according to local reports. More than 350 screens will replace existing static billboards, while other digital media will include interactive directories and virtual concierges as well as a 15-foot digital globe suspended from the ceiling of O’Hare’s Terminal 3.
The news comes just days after a ten-year-old boy was killed at an airport in Birmingham, Alabama when a digital signage display enclosure collapsed.

Adspace Networks in the U.S. is giving a vote of confidence to near field communication (NFC), rolling out the contactless technology to its screens in 140 malls.
The deployment, for which Adspace partnered with NFC specialist Blue Bite, should be complete by mid-April.
It uses Blue Bite’s Mtag platform, which supports both NFC and QR codes, to provide shoppers with maps, promotions and coupons as well as entertainment content. They can also share campaigns on Facebook and Twitter.
“Utilising Blue Bite’s Mtag technology will extend a brand’s message featured on our Smart Screens to a shopper’s mobile device, encouraging them to interact on a deeper level,” said Dominick Porco, Adspace’s chairman and CEO.

Election-related political advertising helped propel U.S. out-of-home revenue to $6.7bn during 2012, a 4.2 percent increase on the previous year, according to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA).
The new opportunities presented by digital out-of-home are also widely believed to have contributed to the steady rise of outdoor revenue, which has now been growing for 11 consecutive quarters.
As well as political organisations, retailers – whose spend grew by a double-digit percentage –along with media and entertainment firms and mobile phone operators were among the most enthusiastic users of the medium.

Out-of-home advertising on U.S. public transport networks should be boosted by the adoption of a national standard for audience measurement, as Barnaby Page reports.
A study conducted by Canadian audience research firm Peoplecount for the Transportation Research Board, a U.S. nonprofit body, found that advertising agencies want better metrics and more precise targeting for their campaigns. It covered ads inside and outside buses and trains as well as at stations, and provided a raft of recommendations for a national metrics scheme.
And now the Traffic Audit Bureau (TAB) has been appointed to co-ordinate such a scheme. It will be based on the Out of Home Ratings system from TAB, previously known as Eyes On, which measures not only the number of people potentially exposed to each advertising site, but also the probability that they will actually notice an ad – determined by applying a Visibility Adjustment Index (VAI) calculated from eye-tracking tests.
